Be Kind Always
I’ve always believed that you never know the impact that you will have on someone’s life, even in a fleeting moment. Sometimes we say something, we do something and it could be the most benign thing, but it makes an indelible impression on the person that you are interacting with. Ideally, there are more positive impressions that we’re leaving than negative... I remember when I was younger a family friend told me that I had the “worst smile he’s ever seen” - he said it under his breath while he was taking my picture, but for years and years, I was self-conscious about my smile. 😁
On the flip side, the same thing can be true for leaving a positive impact. Last year Ashley had a chance meeting with a woman that did her make-up for family pictures that we were shooting and they had an innocent conversation about PCOS. The make-up artist had a personal experience that she shared with Ashley and gave her a lot of advice about how she could overcome and eventually have children of her own! I think Ashley thought it was an impossibility. That chance meeting resulted in Ashley changing her diet, going to the appropriate doctors and following a plan that eventually put her on a pathway to losing 30 pounds. It created an environment in her body that was conducive to having children ...with her permission I’m proud to announce that Ashley is pregnant and is due later this year!!
We’re so happy for Ashley and Edwin and wish them all the very best. But, the moral of the story is that you never really know the impact that you’re going to have on a single life, on any single day or in any single moment.
Be kind always. ❤️

This Has Haunted Me
#TBT - When we were asked to do this cover five years ago, I was very reluctant. I shirked at the idea of being thought of as a “power couple” because I thought that it might come across as pretentious or implying that we thought of ourselves as having such “power,” whatever that meant. For me, the insinuation was that by virtue of the fact that we agreed to being on the cover, were we not implying that somehow we were “powerful” in some way? I wasn’t comfortable with the idea. Nevertheless, because SA Monthly Magazine allowed us to tell our story the way we wanted, we agreed.
The cover has haunted me since, in good ways and bad. It has been brought up in negative ways when advantageous to opportunists, and, in positive ways, for those who see it for what it is...shredding light on a couple’s philanthropic efforts. Five years later, I’ve decided I’m going to own it ...mainly because I have realized in my old age what being a “power couple” really means...
1. You are not the most successful, but you work together to create the success that you do have
2. You are not the most beautiful, but you take care of yourselves and you strive to live healthy lifestyles
3. You are not the most intelligent, but you use the gifts that God gave you to bring glory to Him and others
4. You are not the best parents, but you give everything you have to your children to help them be and do their very best
5. You are not the wisest, but you learn from your mistakes, brush yourself off, pick yourself up and begin anew
6. You are not infallible, but you work together towards a common goal and keep each other in check along the way
7. You are not passive, but you have a strong enough sense of yourself to respect your mate’s opinion and listen unconditionally
8. You are not competitive with each other, no matter how determined you are in life to attain your own personal goals
9. You are not so arrogant that you can’t recognize your and your spouse’s weaknesses, but chose to focus on the respective strengths
10. You are not so egotistical that you can’t be each other’s biggest cheerleader and fan
11. You are not so self-centered that you can’t recognize that each of you brings strengths to the relationship where the other may fall short
But the most important thing is that you are not so broken that you can’t lean on each other Physically, Emotionally and, most importantly, Spiritually. You’re not threatened by the other’s spiritual growth, even if one out-paces the other periodically. You recognize that a human’s desire to know God only makes them better, more powerful people...and because the sum is always greater than its parts, it makes you both a better, more powerful couple.
If that is a “power couple,” well...I guess that is what we are and I’m sure many of you out there are as well. ❤️

Alexa’s First Big Charity Fundraiser
#ThrowbackThursday to Alexa’s first big charity fundraiser as a title holder for the Miss America pageant system!
We were so incredibly proud of the work Alexa did to help raise money for Texas Cares for Children. It’s a great organization and a worthy cause!
Juxtaposition & Oxymoron
I’ve always loved this picture because of the inherent conflict in it, i.e., the office and the evening gown. I felt that it represented the juxtaposition that women are constantly in having to be a working professional, but also elegant at the same time. It’s an oxymoron that I wanted to capture and, with the help of @PictureGroove, I think we did.
As women, we’re constantly switching gears from being a wife to mom to professional to socialite. Often times not just changing hats, but wearing multiple hats simultaneously. It’s a slippery slope. It’s hard to exist in multiple places at the same time. With all due respect, many of our male counterparts have clearer lines of delineation between their various roles.
So here’s to all my female colleagues who do it all and manage to look elegant in the process. 🥰
It Was Hers, Now Mine
Incredibly sweet gift from my mom for my birthday. It was hers, now mine and will be given to one of my girls eventually.
I love old things with sentimental value. I’m kinda an old soul in that way. My home is sprinkled with trinkets that I’ve collected over the last 20-30 years of travels with my family. It helps to remind me of where I have been and have yet to go!
I have a Roman Gladiator helmet I bought outside the Coliseum in Rome, a Coat of Arms from Toledo, Spain, and a Marie Antoinette perfume bottle from the Palace of Versailles (to name a few). Everywhere you walk in my home, there is something that tells a story of a journey we took or an adventure we have had. Materialistically, they are my most valued possessions because of their intrinsic value and what they represent: time spent with the people I love most.
After my sweet grandmother passed, my Aunt asked me if there was anything in the house I wanted, I asked her for the old pictures. I wanted the black & white photos of my grandparents and great grandparents. I have a wall in my home dedicated to relatives on both my parents’ sides that date back generations. Looking at the old pictures gives me a sense of nostalgia and peace, knowing where I came from, where I have been and where I have yet to go. ❤️

48th Birthday
Today is my 48th birthday and here’s my mid-life crisis photo. 🤪 If I look uncomfortable it’s because, well, I am. 😂
Hey, I tried, but one thing I realize is that I’m not that good at “trying” to present myself as anything but who I really am...
There are a lot of great quotes on aging but this one is one of my favorites. “Aging is an inevitable process. I surely wouldn't want to grow younger. The older you become, the more you know; your bank account of knowledge is much richer.” -William Holden
Aging is a process that we all dread...but the lines, the blemishes, the perfect imperfections... they tell a story. #YourStory. These “Battle Wounds” are the fabric and texture of your character and the road map to who you have become. So don’t “try” to be anything but who and what you are. Be unapologetically, YOU. ❤️
Such a Magical Vacation
True story...I was sitting in church the Sunday before Christmas and Pastor Kerry told the story of a little girl who’s guardians wouldn’t take her to Disney because she was either adopted or fostered (I don’t recall exactly), but they took their other kids and found excuses to leave her behind. It literally broke my heart. I wish I could take every child to Disney that wanted to go.

The Importance of Community Service
Community service has always been a really important part of my life and it’s something I tried to instill in my children.
Wise Words From My Husband
It’s the unseen effort and failures that lead to success. Don’t envy others. Achieve what you can individually with your God-given gifts. We all have them. Never give in or give up. Don’t let others hold you back. Tap into them and fulfill your destiny to make a positive difference in the world! ~Dr Steven Cyr

Well it looks like our recent SASpine Houston expansion announcement got picked up by quite a few news outlets:
Onward and upward. 🚀
10 Year Challege… Almost
I had to laugh when I saw this picture of me from eight years ago pop up on my timeline. It occurred to me that I wore the same dress eight years later in a recent photo shoot for SA Monthly Magazine. This is going to surprise people, but I’m oddly frugal when it comes to things like spending money on myself, especially designer clothes. I don’t think that people would guess that about me. I DO spend money on things like vacations and breaking bread around a beautifully prepared meal and nice wine with family and friends. I feel like those things create memories and memories are the building blocks of who we are.
I know many may not agree because these things are intangible, but, for me, they’re priceless. I’ve always said that one of the best things that you can give your children growing up are “good memories.” My girls are not going to want my old designer dresses and they’re certainly not going to take them with them, but they will take the memories that we created together and they won’t remember, or care, what I was wearing.
2019 Highlights
2019 was an interesting year. If I could define it one way, I would say it was a year of growth.
Although there were definitely some lows, I would say that the highs outweighed them. Some of the years highlights included:
✅ securing new SASPINE offices in Houston including a location in the River Oaks district starting 1/15/2020
✅ adding a new Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeon and mid-level PAs at www.SASpine.com
✅ starting a new Skincare brand - www.CyrMdSkincare.com
✅ securing a San Antonio local retailer for our skincare products and identifying a second in the Houston market
✅ laying the groundwork for a new college consulting business that is starting Q1 of 2020 (OracLe College Consulting)
✅ starting a personal blog that garnered over 2500 views within a couple weeks of launching - LeAnnCyr-iouslySpeaking.com
✅ traveling to various parts of the US and Europe inc Spain, France, England, and Monte Carlo
✅ visiting over 15 universities with my first born and assisting her through the college application process
✅ taking our little ones to Disney World and on a Disney Cruise
✅ knocking off the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade from my older kids’ bucket list
✅ being featured on the cover of SA Monthly magazine
✅ receiving the Enzo Award from The Ferrari Kid non-profit organization
✅ delivering 250 pairs of shoes to SonRise Shelter with my kids’ non-profit, PROject Christ
✅ officially being nominated “the most gossiped about couple” in South Texas....Lol...Kidding. 😉
I’m tired just writing this post. Ha ha. Here’s to 2019. 🥂 Have a wonderful New Years Day and 2020. 🥳
Marry Someone You Can…
Marry someone you can respect and look up to...
It has often been said that men want to be respected and women want to be loved. Obviously, everyone wants a bit of both, but speaking from a woman’s perspective, if a man wants to be respected, he must be respectable. One thing I’ve always admired about Steven is that he is a respectable man. He is worthy of respect not because he holds a lofty title, but because of the way he treats and honors his patients, his family, his friends and mostly, his faith. 🙏 He’s a man of integrity that is above and beyond reproach.
Anyone that knows Dr Cyr personally knows this to be true.
Enzo Award!
What an honor it was to recently receive the Enzo Award for the support our family has given over the years to The Ferrari Kid, a non-profit organization that gives kids coping with cancer and dealing with any illness the ride and experience of a lifetime.
Wise Beyond Her Years
I’m sitting at dinner with this beauty last night and we are talking our usual politics...there’s a constitutional question that comes up that neither of us knows the answer to. Instead of phoning a friend or surfing the internet for the answer from someone else who probably doesn’t know the answer either, she goes and reads the actual US Constitution. Then looks at me and says, “that was inaccurate according to the US Constitution.”
Love this girl. Wise beyond her years.
Smart as they come.
My point, instead of guessing what is true and what’s fiction, go read the damn laws. Don’t rely on people to tell you what’s real and what’s not. We are a country of laws. Wanting something to be true doesn’t make it true. Someone saying it’s true, speculating or even asking questions about it doesn’t make it true.
Feel free to share. I’m sure we all have “that ignorant friend” that needs to read this.
Friendship
Because I was traveling yesterday I didn’t get a chance to write this so here goes...
Happy Anniversary Jeanne & Fredo 💕. I couldn’t be more grateful to have been a part of your special day and to witness such a perfect union of two souls. I was, and am, deeply humbled to have married you guys and been there during such an important time in your life, Jeanne. Just as you have been in mine.
You have been a rock to me in ways you don’t even know. Your discernment, advice and insight has been an internal barometer that I have subconsciously felt for many years. I appreciate the care and wisdom that you approach our friendship with and your genuine concern for our family’s well being.
From twelve years old to now...I love and appreciate you dearly. #HappyAnniversary 💕
